An exhibition “Run & Roll,” commemorating the release of a collaboration model by the conditioning wear brand, “CW-X” from Wacoal and artist Keiichi Tanaami, opens from Jan. 17th at Tokyo’s Aoyama Spiral Garden (Spiral 1st floor). The session will last until the 22nd.
The event space is brilliantly colored and represents the world of Tanaami. At the gallery zone, original animation by Tanaami flows. He images Kyoto where torii or gateway entrance to a Shinto shrine and image of Buddha appear. At the inner atrium, thirty bodies of bottom torsos wearing one type of the released model collaboration tights out of four types or the standard model tights are hung from the ceiling. Tanaami himself instructed the height of the torsos at the time of construction.
This collaboration has been realized for the 2013 Kyoto Marathon Support Campaign to be held in March. Tanaami’s work has been printed on highly functional sports tights “Stabilyx” by CW-X as a canvas. Menswear and Womenswear in sizes S to L, totaling 600 limited pairs are to be released in stores from Jan. 20th at some CW-X shops nationwide and on the Wacoal Web Store. The price is 18,900 yen. Other line-ups including T-shirts (6,300 yen) and BUFF, wearable as a neck warmer or a cap (3,675 yen) are available.
Next to the Spiral Garden entrance at the CW-X Conditioning Store, this collaboration series is currently being pre-sold. Artwork by Tanaami will color the walls until March 10th.
Wacoal actively collaborates with artists. As underwear brand “une nana cool,” it produced underwear designed by Yayoi Kusama in 2011, creating a hot topic.
