COMME des GARÇONS designer Rei Kawakubo teams-up with French luxury brand HERMÈS for a limited-edition collection, “COMME des CARRÉS.” The HERMÈS’ signature carrés scarves that are designed by Kawakubo are available for purchase from February 6th.

The collaboration kicked off when HERMÈS women’s wear artistic director, bali barret asked Rei Kawakubo to bring her distinct vision onto the “carré.” The special edition collection consist of two lines: “Black & White” and “Color,” both of which have new graphic designs layered onto the HERMÈS scarves.

“Black & White” is very COMME des GARÇONS in style and includes five types of carrés in abstract black-and-white designs. By excluding colors, the abstract graphics emerge dynamically from the surface. It is sold exclusively at COMME des GARCONS stores in Aoyama (Tokyo), New York and Paris.

The second collaboration line entitled “Color” consists of six colorful scarves. Geometric elements like giant patchworks, ginghams and stripes are mixed together and completely transform the traditional carré concepts. These are sold only at Dover Street Market COMME des GARÇONS Stores in London and Ginza, Tokyo.

The release dates differ worldwide. Between February 6th and 8th, the limited collection will launch first in Paris, then in New York and continues to Tokyo. The collection will be released in London from Feb. 12th. All retails end on March 31st. The collaboration lines are also available online at Dover Street Market Online Store. Here, “Color” is released on February 6th and “Black & White” from April 1st.
