Solo Exhibit by calligrapher Sisyu “Mizu tekiteki Hito teku teku” will be held from Apr. 27th to May 19th on the 3rd floor event space of GUCCI Shinjuku.

Sisyu combines traditional Japanese calligraphy with new technology to express works three dimensionally or in animation. Her artworks infuse expressions and emotions into characters and words to create unique works.

The exhibit displays mobiles and folding screens in gold to express Japanese ideas on standing face to face with water. The joint work with teamLab named “The Spirit Waterfall (takikokorozu)” is an interactive animation, which displays the kanji “心” meaning heart combined with other kanji and disappears into a waterfall when someone approaches the screen. This latest work is highly appraised overseas. Other works displayed include a folding screen with a dragon illustration inspired by the image of GUCCI and great works of calligraphy most of which are shown at this exhibit for the first time.
