On the 8th floor Le Forum of Maison Hermès in Ginza, Tokyo, the solo exhibition of Israeli artist Sigalit Landau titled “The Ram in the Thicket” will be held from May 17th to August 18th.

Exhibited for the first time in Japan, this solo exhibition presents two installations. “Out in the Thicket” makes the best of high ceiling space to express an olive forest. “Behold the Fire and the Wood” depicts typical family life in Israel in the 1950s. Le Forum attempts for the first time to exhibit large scale video-projected works.

Born in 1969 in Jerusalem, Sigalit Landau spent several years in the UK and US. Presently, she lives in Tel Aviv to work as an artist. She has continued to present artworks reflective of homeland history always accompanied with “pain” represented in life and death, the body, relationships and so forth. In Japan, she introduced her representative video piece to show floating footage with watermelons in the Dead Sea along with crystallized Dead Sea salt sculpture at Yokohama International Triennale of Contemporary Art in 2011.
