Takara Tomy is a power toy maker with many long-running toys for girls. It never lets their customers down. So it’s not too big a surprise that they caused a sensation when they revealed their new lineups at the International Tokyo Toy Show 2013.

The center of attention was the long-loved dress-up doll toy, Licca-chan. Recently, Licca is boosting up the industry by vigorously teaming up with popular anime characters and TV shows.

One of such collaborations is “Liccalize Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica”. From the hit TV anime series “PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA”, Madoka and Homura are joining the Licca series. The two characters’ heads and costumes were specially created to fit the classic Licca form. By keeping Licca’s style, Licca-ness is maintained. The result is a brilliant fusion of Licca and MadoMagi. Priced at 6,800 yen. (tax incl.) The dolls are available for reservation from July 1st and can be purchased on the Takara Tomy official shopping website from the end of November.

It ends not here. Takara Tomy is developing another collaborative item with “PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA”. Named “Koedalize Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica”, Tomy’s long-running Koeda chan’s body is redesigned into those of the magical girls. In addition to the five main MadoMagi characters, one secret version is prepared for the collection. What the sixth type is, we still do not know since it was not revealed at the Toy Show. Priced at 714 yen each, the new lineup will go on sales at the end of December.

The greatest eye-catcher of all, however, may have been the display of the long anticipated Hatsune Miku version of Licca-chan, scheduled to be released on July 13th. A life-sized POP display also attracted much attention. Also at the convention were “NHK taiga drama Yae no Sakura Licca-chan”, “Spa Resort Hawaiians Super Licca-chan” and more. The expanding world of Licca was evident.
