Japanese style sparkler fireworks produced by Kyoto Yuzen kimono brand “Chiso” (founded in 1555) hit stores once again. The popular fireworks are being sold for the 4th year and are created with wishes of matchmaking from prayers of Kiyomizu-dera, a landmark temple of Kyoto.

The fireworks are handmade domestically and can only be produced in limited quantities. The powder includes soot of burnt pine from Miyazaki prefecture and comes wrapped in Japanese paper. The sparks start off in the form of peonies and then transform into pine needles, willows and falling chrysanthemums.

Priced at 3,150 yen for 5 bundles (total 25 fireworks). Available at directly managed “SOHYA TAS” (address: 2F Chiso Building, 80 Mikura-cho, Nishiiru, Karasuma, Sanjo-dori Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto), Cibone, The Conran Shop, Spiral Market and others.
