Pop-up events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Dutch children’s clothing brand “Oilily” are held. From Aug 28 to Sept 10 at Isetan Shinjuku, and from Sept 18 to 24 at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi main store.

At the events, classic designs made of gingham check patterns and color prints are lined-up from the 2013 AW Collection. In addition to wear, bags and accessories, 2 types of dresses and 1 type of T-shirt will be available in Isetan Mitsukoshi limited editions.

Oilily was founded in Alkmaar, the Netherlands in 1963 by the married couple Willem and Marieke Olsthoorn. The two designed clothing that they wanted their twin daughters to wear. The brand has gone through two bankruptcies, and it was able to reestablish as a brand again in 2010. Currently available in over 80 countries with celebrities such as Madonna and Julia Roberts as fans. In the 80s, it started a women’s line as well. Aside from wear, the brand is also popular for its diaper bags and carry cases which are unique in design and practical.
