In line with the introduction of the latest “Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Rebel Nudes,” Yves Saint Laurent Beaute organized a beauty contest in Japan to find its next model.
Rebel Nudes looked for a model who could express a rebellious side in line with the product image. The model who won the contest is Kiyo Matsumoto, a college student who works as model/actress.
Matsumoto, 18, belongs to Avex Management. She already has experience in starring in TV commercials and will also perform in a play in October. In addition to her role as model for Yves Saint Laurent Beaute’s campaign, Matsumoto will provide advice on product development.
Asked what made her rebellious, Matsumoto answered that she had failed in love the day before, but still she was smiling. A special judge Junichi Ishida comments, “She can spring back from failed love to seize this type of opportunity. She is really something and attractive.” A judge and Yves Saint Laurent Beaute training manager Etsuko Tanino adds, “Ms. Matsumoto’s eyes make a great impact on us. She is pure, but has rebellious aspects hidden in the purity.”
After the awards ceremony, makeup artist Eita did her makeup. Putting gray eye shadow on the outer corners and bold yellow eye shadow on the inner corners, he finished with the Rouge Pur Couture Vernis on the lips. Her ponytail was puffed out to express a “rebellious” woman.
Rouge Pur Couture Vernis is being sold in Japan since Feb 2012. The manicure-like gloss made it one of the best sellers, selling one every 20 seconds. With more moisturizing effect and the new concept “colors that bring out the beauty of lips,” 8 nude colors such as pearly shade and pale fuchsia pink are available.
