On Nov 5, a lighting ceremony was held at Roppongi Hills to launch its Christmas campaign. Tomomi Itano, former member of popular AKB48, attended the event as the “Snow Queen.”

Itano appeared wearing a purple dress with gathers on the chest and waist lines. She styled the outfit with crystal adorned Christian Louboutins. When she pressed the switch the 400-m Keyakizaka lit up with red illumination.

Since 2003, Keyakizaka is famous for its white × blue lights dubbed “snow & blue”, which decorates each Christmas season. This year, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Roppongi Hills, the street is decorated in red under the name “celebration color.” The number of lights has also doubled, totaling to approx. 1.05 million LED lights.

Itano said, “The warmth of the red lights this year is beautiful.” Seeing the red lights turn to “snow & blue,” she added, “Both colors are breathtaking. They portray the season.”

The Christmas lights will be turned on from 5 pm to 11 pm every day until Dec 25. The “celebration color” will only be lit up for the first ten minutes of every hour, and the remaining will be illuminated with “snow & blue.”

Illumination and mirror balls will decorate Mohri Garden from Nov 14. Live performance, Christmas market and more are also planned.
