On Nov 14, a lighting ceremony was held at Shibuya PARCO featuring artist Asami Kiyokawa and actor/musician Nobuaki Kaneko as guests. For this year’s Christmas event, a large gift box adorned with objet and graphics dubbed “Deco Max” produced by Kiyokawa is on display. The Christmas lights will be lit up every day from 10 am to 12 am until Dec 25.

At the ceremony, Kiyokawa appeared wearing a red dress with black patterns from Alexander McQueen styled with black booties. Kaneko appeared in a tight fitting dark colored suit styled with a white shirt, red necktie and sunglasses.

“He is very handsome,” said Kiyokawa about Kaneko. They became friends about 5 years ago. “When designing the gift box, I imagined good looking men like Kaneko falling from the sky,” she continued.

The gift box is installed with 10 sets of earphones so that visitors can listen to Christmas songs selected by Kiyokawa. A total of 5 songs including “Signals” written by Kaneko for PARCO’s campaign and “Perfect” by UK band Fairground Attraction are introduced.

When Kiyokawa and Kaneko turned on the switch to light up the box, colorful lights along with snow, dry ice and bubbles emerged. Paradise Yamamoto, a Japanese musician registered as an official Santa Claus by the International Association of Authorized Santa Claus in Greenland, also appeared to hand out presents to visitors.

Kiyokawa serves as the director of PARCO’s Christmas campaign dubbed “Love Max! Xmas!”, which is being held at 19 PARCO stores in Japan. Kaneko, along with model Tenko serves as campaign model for the visuals and TV commercials.
