Grand Front Osaka begins the Christmas season with lights decorating the Umekita Plaza from Nov 29. Christmas events will be held until Dec 25.
60 trees surrounding the Umekita Plaza will be lit up with eco-friendly bulbs (reduces power consumption by 65%) for the event “Wish Shinee.” In addition, a total of approx. 300,000 lights on a new type of Christmas tree dubbed “Wish Art,” “Red Threads” to decorate the premises, “Wish Trees” which will float in the Knowledge Plaza and more will set the mood for the season. On Dec 13, the lighting ceremony for “Umeda Snowman Festival 2013” will be held, creating a magical atmosphere of lights, sounds and visuals.
A German style Christmas market is available from Nov 22. Other events such as a fashion show, live painting, music festival, the trial of smart toy Sphero will also be held.
On the 5th floor of the South Building, a “wishbone” will be set-up where customers can attach the wish cards they will receive at each of the shops. The first 500 to write their wishes on the cards will receive a tulip flower.
