On Nov 29, Louis Vuitton opened the first street facing store in the Shinjuku area. The store faces Isetan Shinjuku and is the third store for the brand in the area.
The two-story building lines-up women’s bags and accessories on the 1st floor and travel luggage, men’ items, and women’s shoes and pret-a-porter on the 2nd floor. At the center stairwell, 42,000 figures created by Korean artist Do Ho Suh decorate a spiral shaped chandelier.
The Icon Collection is fully lined up, with the largest lineup in the country. Items from the 2014 SS Collection are inspired from the works of architect Charlotte Perriand. The Damier mini-clutch bag (79,800 yen) from the collection is sold exclusively at the store.
The facade is decorated with the brand’s symbolic damier patterns. Bambi, balloons, enormous peonies and more designed by Sofia Coppola, which were also displayed in the windows of Le Bon Marche Paris in October, are currently on display until mid-January.
One day prior to the opening, an event was held inviting actress Yoko Maki to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
