On April 1, ASICS Corporation brand Onitsuka Tiger together with the American brand of COACH is releasing a collaborative capsule collection of men’s and women’s footwear.
Retailed at domestic and overseas Onitsuka Tiger shops, COACH flagship stores and limited company stores within Japan, and men’s shop within department stores, limited numbers of 800 pairs within the country and a total of 1,700 pairs for the entire global market are planned to be sold.
Sharing a long history of relentless pursuit for quality craftsmanship, Onitsuka Tiger succeeded in joining hands with the luxury leatherware brand. Collaborative models are not new to Onitsuka Tiger (e.g. Kansai Yamamoto designed sneakers). With COACH, the ASICS group hopes to acquire new customers and boost the brand name within the domestic and international fashion market.
The collaborative capsule offers two models based on basketball shoes- “FABRE NIPPON” and “FABRE DELUXE”- both from the brand’s iconic “NIPPON MADE” series.
The high-top “FABRE NIPPON” is available in two color types (blue/ black) for men and three shades of pastel (yellow/ orange/ blue) for women. The low-top “FABRE DELUXE” pays homage to COACH, recreating the composed taste of the fine COACH leather and the vintage-like hues reminiscent of New York, the home ground of the US fashion house. Only offered for men in two colorways.
Both models adopt leather uppers and natural vintage-like color fades that are achieved by the meticulous hand dyeing process undertaken by native craftsmen. Onitsuka Tiger logo is stamped on the shoe tongue and COACH on the heels.
