Barneys New York Ginza will line up chocolates from the US brand “Yvan Valentin” for a limited time from Jan 31 to Feb 14.

Four flavors will be available: “Dark Truffles” mixing several types of cacao and adding liquor as an accent, “Cappuccino Truffles” blending chocolate and cappuccino cream, “Ivory Cointreau Truffles” with orange peel and “Praline Truffles” combining creamy ganache, hazelnuts and milk chocolate. Available in sets of two (1,480 yen), six (3,600 yen), twelve (6,500 yen) and twenty-four (12,400 yen). A set of four (2,500 yen) is also available exclusively.

The brand does not operate any stores and sells its products through invitations only. Madonna, Jodie Foster, Tom Hanks and the late Michael Jackson are among the list of Hollywood stars that are fans of the chocolates. In 2010, the chocolates were sold to the general public, resulting in endless orders. In Japan, they are only available through invitations which are how they became to be known as “visionary chocolates.” Barneys New York lines up the brand from 2011 during Valentine season only.
