Yohji Yamamoto presented its 2014 SS Women’s Collection under the themes “deconstruction” and “meaningless excitement.” The designer challenged himself to reconstruct tailored styles with new ideas.

The focus of the collection is on sleeves. Detached sleeves are connected to inner tops or re-attached onto the design in a style different to the fundamental form. Using the same approach, tailored jackets revealed shoulder parts to transform into sexy styles. The structures of the designs were emphasized by combining different colors varying from monotone to colorful neon.

Tailored style tops and coats and shirts made of soft jersey proposed new types of silhouettes. For dresses, see-through materials were elegantly folded to outline the shape of the body. Similar to the men’s collection, items incorporating oriental elements were also seen. Tops introduced wide kimono sleeves and pants were designed in hakama-style.
