Masaru Suzuki, textile designer for marimekko, presented new textiles in line with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tove Jansson, the illustrator and author of Moomin. The products are part of the project titled “Moomin Tribute Works”.
Suzuki created original stories for each of the textiles, which were designed based on Jansson’s works. The textiles are named “I’m Here,” “During the Trip,” “Various Forests” and “Little My Has Showed Up!” (Four patterns in two colors each). The fabrics were chosen in line with the images of the stories and are made of 100% cotton using Slavic yarn. The sequence of the patterns and color schemes add depth to the designs. Sold at 3,800 yen per meter.
The product lineup using the newly designed textiles includes- multipurpose cloths (6,000 yen for S size and 8,500 yen for L size), cushion covers (2,800 yen for 45cm×45cm and 3,800 yen for 60 cm×60 cm), made-to-order curtains, trays (3,600 yen), tote bags (4,400 yen), cut cloths (2,600 yen) and handkerchiefs (1,500 yen). On sale at the fabric store “FIQ” and its official online shop.
