Isetan Mitsukoshi department stores will line up the “Digital Liberty Art Creation” series from Mar 5. Eleven Japanese brands created designs using Liberty prints.

The world famous “Liberty prints” are created with manufacturer Komatsu Seiren’s USTAMOKTM-ML (Mona Lisa) dyeing technique. With this digital print technique, a variety of 16.7 million colors can be produced. By carefully controlling the many different colors, delicate prints are created.

From N.HOOLYWOOD, a bright colored blouson (47,250 yen) with color sprays on white fabric and shorts (19,950 yen) will go on sale. Pull-over blouson (29,400 yen) with wooden buttons and monotone botanical prints will be available from Factotum. Blouson with white paisley on black fabric (44,940 yen) and shorts (28,140 yen) are designed by nonnative. White Mountaineering, SOPHNET., Wacko Maria, Slow Gun, Scye, ts(s), Soundman and BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS will also line up items made with Liberty fabrics.

“Up until now, we asked collaborating brands to design something using the printed fabrics that we pre-selected. This time, we asked each of the designers to choose the fabric of their choice. As a result, we were able to create very unique designs, which reflect each designer’s interpretation of Liberty prints,” explained a buyer from Isetan.
