The sole harness maker in Japan “SOMES SADDLE” teams up with shoes designer Hiroshi Tsubouchi for its 50th anniversary. For the collaboration, Tsubouchi designs his first bags under the name “SOMES SADDLE × HT LABEL.”

The “Cage” (115,500 yen) is a braided tote bag inspired from the belt parts of a harness. The liner is replaceable, which makes the bag suitable for all seasons. The simple “Bento” (105,000 yen) is created with the leather forming technique of craftsmen, which creates a three-dimensional form using only one piece of leather connected at the gussets and bottom. Both models are available in black or brown and are made of bridle leather. The bags will be pre-sold at directly operated SOMES SADDLE stores. The Aoyama store will hold an ordering session from Mar 19.

SOMES SADDLE was founded in Utashinai city of Hokkaido in 1964. The brand has historically designed saddles for top jockeys of the world and is also patronized by the Imperial Household in Japan. Today its business covers a variety of leather goods. Hiroshi Tsubouchi is one of the founders of shoes importer “Magnum.” He launched his own brand in 2008. Both brands place importance on making its designs in Japan, which led to the team-up.
