“Shibuya Fashion Festival.5” will open on Mar 22 in line with Tokyo Fashion Week.

Fifteen-year old model Mona Matsuoka is the face of the festival which introduces “Spring in Shibuya” as a theme. An abundance of flowers and colors used for the visuals create a fresh and powerful feel.

Under the motto “Gather in Shibuya,” over 200 shops in department stores and facilities will hold in-store parties, workshops and a stamp rally using the “Like” function of Facebook. Artist Mai Ohara will appear as guest for a party at goldie H.P.FRANCE, celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Special items will also go on sale on the day of the festival. At SHIPS, items will be discounted by 10% and during a specified time, aroma oils will be distributed.

SHOPlier by Recruit will offer a “Shibuya Fashion Allowance” totaling to 26 million yen for visitors on Mar 22 and 23. Two types of allowance will be available. The “normal allowance” amounts to 5,000 yen and will be given to the first 5,000 visitors. The second “emergency allowance” amounts to 100,000 yen and will be provided to 10 people who have the most votes by friends via SNS as being a bad and uncool dresser.

A contest to select a costume for the Hachiko statue is being held, and the winner’s design will adorn the symbolic dog statue.
