The website “100 Tokyo” opened on Mar 20 as part of the Cool Japan project initiated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. It introduces all “cool” things particular to Tokyo and Japan.
Design, fashion, art, food, technology, architecture, tourism, events and anything from Japan worth mentioning to the rest of the world are introduced on the website.
Photos uploaded onto the website are distributed through SNS such as “Google+” to promote the uniqueness of Tokyo and Japan. One-hundred posts will be uploaded each year, of which thirty will be published onto the website at the same time. The bookmark function “Save to My Tokyo” can be used by overseas tourists to file information. The content is available in Japanese and English, which include maps and other useful functions.
The “Photo Tour” section introduces celebrities and their favorite spots of Tokyo. For the launch, creative director Jackson Tan from Singapore and Japanese musician/model MEG based in Tokyo and Paris are featured.
“We want overseas visitors and tourists to use the website to find useful information to make their stay more enjoyable. The goal is to communicate the creativity of the country,” explained a rep of the Cool Japan project.
A launch party inviting overseas bloggers and other guests was held on Mar 20 at the Google Japan headquarters located in Roppongi, Tokyo.
