Started in 2010, Asia Fashion Exchange continues to increase its influence on fashion. Each year, it actively invites overseas designers to participate in the event.

This year, guest designers from overseas included Prabal Gurung, Oscar de la Renta and Thomas Tait (winner of this year’s LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize). From Japan, DRESSCAMP participated.

With cooperation from Parco, DRESSCAMP presented its 2014-15AW collection as the showcase for Japanese designers of the future generation. Parco that manages Parco (Singapore) Pte Ltd. has more than twenty years of experience in the development of shopping centers and business incubation. As a part of the project to provide business opportunities for fashion designers, Parco supported DRESSCAMP to raise visibility and expand business in Asia.

The venue of the show was created for 600 people, but on the day of the event, the number of viewers exceeded this number, and many people watched the show standing. “This is first time that so many fashion industry people came to see a Japanese fashion show” and “Does the brand ship their products overseas?” were some of the voices of the people that watched the show.

Prabal Gurung held the opening show for Audi Fashion Festival. Born in Singapore, and raised in Nepal. Has lived in India and currently resides in New York. “I’m happy to have been able to hold this show at a time when Singapore is growing so rapidly,” said Gurung after his show.

Oscar de la Renta invited Kate Bosworth to watch its show. Targeting wealthy families in Singapore, the 2014 pre-fall collection along with cocktail dresses fusing American simplicity and European elegance were presented.

Thomas Tait is from Montreal, Canada and graduated from Central Saint Martins in London. He presents his collections in London. His form using curvy lines and striking color balance presented in the 2014-15 AW collection received favorable reviews from the Textile & Fashion Federation and the magazine Her World.

At the trade fair “Blueprint,” seventy brands from Singapore as well as approx. two hundred brands from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, Jakarta, Bangkok, other Southeast Asian countries, London and Paris participated. Roggykei from Japan presented its latest collection on the opening day.
