The new men’s fragrance “Nuit d'Issey” by Issey Miyake Parfums will go on sale from Oct 8.
Dominique Ropion, a creator of nearly 100 perfumes over a span of 30 years and winner of the title- Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2012, and Loc Dong, the first Asian perfumer, are the masters behind the new scent. The refreshing scent is accentuated with the theme of light shining in the darkness of night, which is expressed using woody and spicy notes.
The top note blends bergamot and grapefruit and the middle note, creating a leathery smell, uses black pepper and vetiver. The base note expresses night using dark wood, patchouli and tonka beans.
The color black introduced on the bottle design and packaging expresses night. The smoky gradations and brush strokes create stripes which resemble light seen during the night. The packaging uses the same two types of black seen on the bottle to create a beautiful contrast of horizontal lines.
In representation of the fragrance, UK based photographer/film maker Ryan Hopkinson created a short film portraying a man traveling in nature on his own during the night.
Agnes Satin, International Marketing Director of Issey Miyake Parfums, explains, “Night and sports are often used as themes for fragrances. The night theme we use for our new scent is unique in that it's inspired from nature, which we respect very much. We expressed night as being spiritual and gracious, with a power to awaken new energies within us. It’s different from the conventional glamorous and sexy images associated with the theme.”
The fragrance will be available at directly operated Issey Miyake stores, department stores and Bluebell Japan. Priced at 7,560 yen (75 ml) / 10,260 yen (125 ml).
