Designer Jun Takahashi selected the theme “Pretty Hate Bird” for UNDERCOVER’s 2015 SS collection, which presented a brilliant mix of romantic and dark elements.
The show began with a bright colored princess dress styled with black wings. In contrast to the model’s innocent look, large rings resembling a carnivorous plant and a headpiece made with thorns set an uneasy tone.
A coat with mirror-prints, floral patterns depicting monsters, prints made to look like a skull, straps and trims made of thorns and embroidery creating fragments of mirror glass were styled with girly see-through tops and long skirts.
Prints of scenes taken from the triptych “The Garden of Earthly Delights” by Hieronymus Bosch in which numerous birds are depicted, decorated tops, skirts and dresses. The bold looks were completed with jewelry designed in collaboration with “AMBUSH.” The jewelry introduces motifs of monuments often depicted in paintings. Each of the items from the collaboration is available for purchase.
For the finale, a racing jacket made with tulle and leather styled with a skirt printed with feathers were presented. The show finished off with looks in black while birds cried in the background.
The accessories presented in the collection made a huge impact on the show. Bags showing videos were designed using iPad minis. A cherry-shaped clutch bag with knuckle duster, bangles imaged after broken glass, masks and gloves resembling feathers emphasized the theme.
