Italian label Bottega Veneta , as part of their ongoing “Art of Collaboration” series, has appointed the highly regarded Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki as its latest creative partner to debut the new, soft and sexy Spring/Summer 2015 campaign.
Araki, who has gained a legendary status as one of Japan's most celebrated contemporary artists, is well known for his boundary-breaking erotic photography and provocative images. His body of work exposes controversial themes of intimacy, desire, and sexuality in sharp contrast to orthodox Japanese conventions.
Araki's creations are shown in galleries worldwide, among them the Tate Modern in London and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. When speaking about the collection, Bottega Veneta's Creative Director Tomas Maier enthused the choice of Araki. “His images have a powerful honesty and human poignancy that make them unforgettable,” explained Maier.
The new S/S 2015 campaign, shot in Tokyo, stars Dutch model Saskia de Brauw and Korean model Sung Jin Park. Araki captures a moody, nostalgic sentiment with hints of sexual whimsy, exhibiting the new collection's smooth tones, soft shades and hazy feel.
The campaign is set to release in the February issues of noted fashion magazines, as well as an online video (at http://www.bottegaveneta.com), which reveals a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the collaboration and creative process.
