Comme des Garcons presented its latest women’s collection under the theme “Parting Ritual.” Abstract designs having no connection to the real world defined the show, similarly to the previous three seasons.

The models of the show appeared on the runway in turn, stopping for a moment face to face with the model next in line, as if to say goodbye. An overstatement of gathers, ribbons, bones and padding were used on the designs to dress up the models for the parting ceremonies. A romantic yet fragile appearance was created with veils and layered lace, reminiscent of weddings, funerals and other formal occasions.

These past few seasons, designer Rei Kawakubo has selected themes such as Clothes That Are Not Clothes, Monster, and Roses and Blood. This season smells strongly of death and leaves us wondering what comes next.
