Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics - Spring Edition 2015, the largest international apparel fabrics and accessories trade fair in the world, was held from Mar 18 to 20. This year, the fair attracted the largest number of visitors to date.

Three related fairs- Yarn Expo Spring, PH Value and Chic were also held at the venue, which was changed to the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Over 62,000 people across 88 countries and regions visited Intertextile Shanghai 2015.

At the fair, 2,637 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions, nearly twice the number in comparison to that of the previous year, showcased their products. Nineteen companies gathered at the Japan Pavilion, while 101 companies and 49 countries from Korea and Taiwan respectively participated in the event. Given the success of this year’s Intertextile Shanghai, Milano Unica extended its partnership with the event until the spring of 2017.

Wendy Wen, senior general manager at Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd., the company organizing the event, commented that, “Intertextile is the best platform in Asia for obtaining high end apparel fabrics. We’ve categorized the textiles under sections such as Premium Wool and Design to make it easier for suppliers looking to purchase high quality materials.”

Akira Kawashima of JFW Textiles, hosting the Japan Pavilion, offered that “the number of visitors exceeded our expectations. I think that holding Intertextile at the same time as other fairs such as Chic paid off. Although there is stagnation in the Chinese market, there is demand for high quality Japanese textiles, and so the situation is not all bad for us. Flexibility, quality, safety and accuracy are assets of Japanese companies.”

Uni Textile from Japan added more colors to its lineup and created a new system which allows textiles to be completed more quickly. Sunwell Shanghai doubled the number of people visiting its booth, and attracted not only domestic buyers, but also those from Europe and the US.

The autumn edition will be held at the same venue from Oct 13 to 15.
