An exhibit of artworks by Japanese painter Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita, who marked his name throughout Europe and the rest of the world, is currently open at Isetan Shinjuku (5F). The event is open until May 26.
Foujita (1886-1968) was born in Japan and later became a successful artist in France, ending his life in the country as a naturalized French citizen. The exhibit showcases a number of the artist’s works post- World War II, mainly drawings and prints of children. Each of the pieces shows the liveliness of the children and the depiction of Parisian life at the time.
Among the collection are those of young girls, one holding a flower and another portrayed with a cat.
It has been announced that a movie based on Foujita’s life will be presented this year, starring Japanese actor Joe Odagiri.
