Isetan Shinjuku’s collaboration event with Bunka Fashion Graduate University is open on the 3rd floor of the department store until Mar 8. The event focuses on young designers that could lead the future of the Japanese fashion industry.

The event is being held at the shop space ReStyle, which celebrates its 20th anniversary and is known for its trendy lineup of selected brands. The theme of the event is “Celebrate Formal Wear” and called out to contemporary and future designers to create little black dresses made of silk. Fourteen future designers were selected among students at Bunka Fashion Graduate University. The creations of the future designers are a part of a content to select the winner and runner-up of the best design.

As part of the contemporary designer lineup, black dresses produced by Akira Naka, Leur Logette, Akane Utsunomiya, Julien David, Rhie and Keita Maruyama are being sold.

As for the future designers, winners of the contest for best design will be selected by ReStyle shoppers and Isetan Mitsukoshi employees. Votes are being placed based on how unique and charming the design is and whether or not people shopping on the third floor would want to purchase the design. Winners of the prize will be able to display their awarded works and original pieces on the floor between Mar 16 and 29.
